In the Nudes

In the Nudes

So yesterday I met up with the always lovely bareMinerals girls as part of their nationwide tour to launch the new Gen Nude lip range. It was a little different from my usual PR appointments as it took place in the backseat of a taxi but, I promise you, while nudes were involved, it was a purely innocent encounter and one my husband needn’t worry about.

Sharing the backseat with me was top make-up artist Ioannis Tsangaris, one of the bareMinerals artistry team, that's us above. Ioannis is responsible for some gorgeous work so it was a bit of a buzz to have him select and apply a nude lip look for me from the new bareMinerals offering. The Gen Nude collection is nothing if not comprehensive, with a truly great selection of 40 shades, in four different formulas (Matte Liquid Lipcolor has a matte finish and offers with full coverage, Radiant Lipstick delivers a demi-shine with medium coverage, Buttercream Lipgloss offers a balmy shine with sheer-to-medium coverage and the Under Over pencil is creamy in texture with a velvet finish) in four colour families (Beige, Peach, Pink and Mauve) making it super easy to find your perfect nude.

Ioannis choose the Attitude Under Over Lip Liner (£14) from the Mauve colour family for me. It was darker than I would usually choose but had to agree it worked. He then applied the Buttercream Lipgloss (£17) in Flirt, again from the Mauve selection, all over my lips and then dotted Buttercream Lipgloss in Tantalize (£17) on the fullest part of my lower lip. Tantalize is from the Beige family and one that I’d be instantly drawn too and it definitely made my lips fuller. So much so, when I topped it up for my date night with the hubby he asked if I’d had something done to my lips. He just raised an eyebrow when I said it was because another man had been working his magic on them earlier...

Despite having three products on my lips, they didn’t feel heavy or sticky and because Ioannis used the pencil to both fill in and line my lips, the colour out lasted three coffees (Ok, and a super flaky almond croissant), before a quick touch up pre said dinner date.

I enjoyed wearing this lip range and, with probably the biggest selection on nude colours on the UK market, it’s an absolute must-try for anyone who really isn’t sure what colour or kind of nude would suit them but doesn’t want the hassle or have the time to go counter hopping in an attempt to find it. Tempted? Or have you already found your favourite flesh toned lippy? If so don't keep those lips sealed, give us the news on your favourite nude.
